Our purpose is to promote and advance the welfare of Central Florida
Health Alliance. We do this through service to Leesburg Regional
Medical Center, its patients and visitors.
Leesburg Regional Medical Center opened in 1963 with only 37 charter auxiliary
members. The numbers have been growing ever since. We now have over
260 volunteers serving 27 hospital departments, including emergency, patient
care, front desk, surgery waiting room, ICU, CVICU, outpatient surgery desk,
outside transport, pharmacy, gift shop, thrift shop, snack bar, and office areas.
All money raised is given back to the hospital for equipment and special needs.
In 2007, the Auxiliary provided $135,000 to remodel the mammogram area. We
have also given many scholarships to local students in healthcare education throughout
the years.
Having so many volunteers is truly a blessing and allows us to help fill many
of the hospital’s needs...most importantly, making the patients feel
more comfortable during their stay. It is my hope that our presence also
eases the pressure on the dedicated team members and physicians who work so hard
to bring comfort to everyone. For further information on how you can lend
a helping hand by volunteering, please call (352) 323-5060.
